This property was reserved by HarleyandLacee I'm 29 years old, from New York, USA. Does your child have ADD; Attention Deficite Disorder or ADHD; Attention Defficite Hyperactivity Disorder? Are they hard to controll sometimes,they lack focus, can not concentrate on something for more than maybe a minute without getting distracted? About 1 year ago my daughter Angelica who was 5 was in kindergarden and having trouble. She would not sit still for the teacher, She was running around the classroom, disrupting other and causing problems. When she was at home or with other people she would drive them and me nuts. She couldn't sit still and didn't pay attention to anything we did or said. I thought there was something wrong mentally. than i took her to the Drs and he said she has ADHD. I didn't know what it was or what it did. I went on line and talked to a few parents and care givers with the same problem.
What I found out. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

I told them about how the Dr diagnosed her with ADHD and how I was going out of my mind. I learned that ADHD is a chemical problem in the brain, the brain releses to many endorfins, and they end up with extra energy that they don't know how to handle so they act on it. Sometimes in a bad way. Yelling at them and trying to reason with them.Bribing them and getting frustrated dosen't help. You have to understand that they can't help the way they are and they need your help to controll it. First take this simple quiz. 1}Do they have a short attention span.Can not pay attention or stay with a project for more than a couple or minutes. 2}Needs instant gratification.Instant reaction. 3}Mood swings one minute they are fine and the next they are angry or sad or wild. 4}Loss of appitite. 5}Always needing to be doing somehting can not sit for too long with out getting antsy. 6}Frequently gettign in trouble at school even though you know they are a good kid. 7}trouble making friends or playing in a group. If you answerd yes to more than 3 things you need to see your DR and discus taking a TOVA test for Children with add or adhad tendencies. That will definatley narrow it down alot and tell the Dr. to what degree they have either one. Now that you know this you can learn how to controll it and recognise when its at it worst and learn ways to handle it.
Medication. the first may not always be the best. Or try try again.
We,(me and my daughter and the Dr)went through a few medications before we found the right one. | For us Ritalin time released worked best. She only needed to take it once a day in the morning and there was no fight with school nurse at lunch or the problem of her(the nurse) forgetting to give it to her. It was one pill once a day. We went trhough about 4 meds before we hit on this one. You need to look at all the options before you stick with one. Like When is it easiest to rember to have them take in in themorning or the afternoon. Are they allergic to anything that might be in the meds. If you wnat them to have to take dose at school. look at all the side effects also not that they will ge them but you need to be aware of them. Our biggest problem was her appitite most of them took it away so we had to gie it to her AFTER she ate. Some meds can't be taken if the child has asthma.
